From Tofuku-ji’s iconic Tsutenkyo Bridge, visitors can look down into a valley completely filled with vibrant autumn maples. In autumn, the entire landscape transforms into waves of red, orange, and gold.
This gallery features three photographs taken from different angles atop the bridge, capturing the walkway below, the covered corridor crossing the valley, and the richly layered foliage unique to Tofuku-ji’s autumn scenery.
This photograph was taken from a spot beside Tsutenkyo Bridge, overlooking the vibrant maple valley. Layers of maples ranging from yellow to deep crimson create a rich sense of depth typical of Tofuku-ji in autumn. The tiled roof and wooden pillars of the bridge on the left bring a harmonious balance between temple architecture and the surrounding nature.
From atop Tsutenkyo Bridge, the valley below is completely filled with vibrant autumn maples, through which a covered walkway leading to the temple grounds gently emerges. The layers of red, orange, and gold create the appearance of a “sea of autumn leaves,” with the walkway floating above it. This is one of the most iconic perspectives representing the beauty of Tofuku-ji in autumn.
Looking down from Tsutenkyo Bridge reveals visitors walking along a path completely surrounded by colorful autumn leaves. Layers of red, orange, and soft yellow maples create the impression of a natural “tunnel of foliage.” The depth and vibrancy seen here beautifully reflect the unique landscape of Tofuku-ji’s maple valley.
