Crater Lake National Park, located in southern Oregon, USA. The caldera lake, formed by the massive eruption of Mount Mazama, is surrounded by a rim of coniferous forests. Wizard Island floats in the center of the lake, its deep blue and green hues creating a harmonious and serene impression. It is a landscape where the beauty of the earth—where volcano and forest, stillness and movement coexist—can be felt.
The crater lake formed by volcanic activity sits at an elevation of approximately 2,100 meters. The coniferous forest encircling its rim persists vigorously even within Oregon’s uniquely harsh climate. The contrast between the lake’s blue and the forest’s green offers viewers a quiet sense of peace.
The outer rim of the caldera features steep elevation changes and many areas of exposed rock, yet trees grow weaving through the gaps. Their roots clinging to life in this harsh environment evoke a sense of nature’s power and the passage of time.
Wizard Island is a small volcanic dome formed after the eruption of Mount Mazama. The island, standing 211 meters above sea level, is densely forested with conifers, creating a striking contrast with the surrounding blue lake. Amidst the tranquility of the caldera lake, one senses the Earth’s energy still pulsing within.
