At Kaiōmaru Park in Shinminato, Imizu City, facing Toyama Bay, the beautiful sailing ship Kaiōmaru is moored. This ship once served as a training vessel for the Navigation Training Institute, and now you can see its elegant form up close, earning it the title “Lady of the Sea.” From spring through early summer, the snow-capped Tateyama Range stands out clearly against the sky, creating a stunning harmony with the ship’s white hull and golden decorations against the blue sky. The sight of the masts standing in perfect order evokes a sense of overwhelming beauty and quiet dignity in those who behold it.
The composition, which faces the sailing ship Kaiōmaru head-on, maximizes its imposing presence. The mountain range of Tateyama stretching behind it further enhances the ship’s grandeur.
The imposing mountain range of the Tateyama Mountains rises majestically across the sea. Before you, the Shinminato Bridge stretches out in a long arc, forming a landmark of Toyama Bay.
The stern features ornate gold decorations alongside the inscription “Kaiō Maru Shinminato.” Its presence conveys the vessel’s legacy as a long-serving training ship, now beloved for tourism and events.
