From Taishō Pond toward Kappa Bridge, we proceed along the Azusa River while gazing upon Mount Hotaka. Both the forest trail and the Azusa River course offer continuous beautiful scenery.
The expansive riverbed surrounding Kappabashi unfolds into a magnificent vista overlooking Mount Hotaka.
The view from the riverbank along the Azusa River evokes a profoundly different atmosphere than on clear days. The water surface stretches out calmly, while dead trees line the riverbank, coexisting with nature’s harshness and tranquility. The distant mountains are shrouded in thick clouds, hiding their forms yet exuding a mysterious presence. This scene represents another face of Kamikochi, distinct from its bright landscapes.
The banks of the Azusa River, stretching from Taisho Pond to Kappa Bridge, symbolize one of Kamikochi’s most captivating spots. The clear water flows gently, while across the river, a neatly arranged larch forest spreads out, with bluish mountain ridges stretching beyond. The light reflecting on the river surface harmonizes with the colors of the trees, creating a landscape where the quiet melody of nature can be felt with every step.
